ADHS-VR-Simulation
Making ADHD tangible – with Virtual Reality
What does it feel like when your attention constantly drifts, stimuli can barely be filtered out, or an inner urge to move dominates everyday life? The ADHD VR simulation makes the typical experiences of people with ADHD immediately tangible in a virtual environment.
As part of the BeLEARN practice project, a virtual reality application is being developed for teachers, special needs educators, vocational trainers, ADHD coaches and other professionals. Four typical ADHD characteristics are simulated in a virtual room. Complementary teaching and counselling materials translate these impressions into concrete courses of action for school, training and counselling.
The simulation not only conveys knowledge about ADHD, it enables a change of perspective. Professionals can better understand the strains that affected people face in their everyday learning and working lives. This understanding forms the basis for a more empathetic approach, more suitable learning conditions and more targeted support.
- Understand ADHD better: Invisible challenges become comprehensible and emotionally tangible.
- Foster empathy: The change of perspective helps to interpret behaviour in a more nuanced way and to avoid premature judgements.
- Gain confidence to act: Practical materials show how teaching, support and the learning environment can be adapted.
- Strengthen inclusion: Affected people gain better conditions to develop their potential in school, training and work.
- Develop on a scientific basis: People with ADHD and future users are actively involved in the development. The effectiveness of the tool is finally evaluated by PHBern.
afca is involved in the development as a project partner. Together with BeLEARN, the Bern University of Applied Sciences, PHBern and other professionals, an innovative educational tool is being created that combines technology, research and practical application. The project runs from November 2024 to May 2027.
