Virtual Architecture: The Barcelona Pavilion in VR
Mies van der Rohe's 1929 Barcelona Pavilion as a walkable VR learning environment with an AI guide and interactive chair assembly
An immersive learning environment that makes one of the most important buildings of modernism walkable: Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's Barcelona Pavilion from 1929. In virtual reality, Mies himself acts as a personal guide through his work — explaining materials, spatial ideas and architectural history in dialogue. To finish, it gets hands-on: the famous Barcelona chair floats disassembled into its individual parts in front of you, and you put it back together piece by piece — from the X-shaped steel frame to the connecting bolts to the hand-stitched leather cushions. This makes the construction not just explained, but tangible. A digital learning path for architecture and building culture education, developed for Meta Quest 3.
